Confident! Ten Hag: I absolutely believe we can win another trophy next season

Erik ten Hag was recently interviewed by BBC Sport in Los Angeles.

Following the FA Cup triumph, Manchester United’s review panel conducted a comprehensive analysis of the team’s performance throughout the season and discussed Ten Hag’s future. After 17 days, Manchester United confirmed the extension of Ten Hag’s contract.

Ten Hag said: “Being discussed by the review panel? It feels like ages ago. I’ve put it to the back of my mind, I’m looking forward, and I know why I’m here. I’m here for the project and to win trophies, and we want to move forward.”

“I wasn’t worried about getting a call to get sacked because I know the project, we are going in the right direction. We have won two trophies, and I am preparing for the new season. That is what I have been doing in this period. Of course, I have had a rest as well. There have been new changes within our management team, coaching staff and players. We are improving and moving on to the next step of the new season.”

“I’m grateful for the fans’ support and happy because of it. They are always with us, they are very important to us. We have won two trophies but we have ambitions for more than those two trophies.”

“I absolutely believe we have the potential to win another trophy. It’s most important that the club wins trophies, it’s not about my personal goals, we have to put the club first. Everyone has to be aligned, pursuing a bigger goal.”

“It’s always important how you start, but the most important thing is how you finish. We bounced back in the first season, we had a successful season, we won a lot of games and we reached two cup finals. We went far in Europe, and we finished third in the league. A good start is a foundation. If you have a good start, it gives you a foundation to have a successful season. But if you don’t get it, it can still be a successful season because the season is long, trophies are always won in April or May. Of course, we are aiming for that.”
