Ten Hag: Sancho as a No. 9 is not a long-term solution, we created chances but didn’t take them against Liverpool

August 4th In the pre-season friendly that ended this morning, Manchester United lost 0-3 to Liverpool. After the game, head coach Erik ten Hag attended the interview and responded to the defeat.

Ten Hag: “As you said, we created chances, of course Liverpool played very well, they also created great chances and took them, we created chances but couldn’t take them.”

When asked about the absence of Hojlund and the choice of Sancho playing as the No. 9 in the last two games, Ten Hag said, “This is just an idea, you know, when Hojlund is around, he can perform well at No. 9; Sancho is also a striker, he excels at playing on the wing, and of course we have other options, like Bruno Fernandes, but these are not long-term solutions.”

When asked if Manchester United would consider signing De Ligt with many centre-backs injured, Ten Hag said, “We have options in that position, although Varane, Maguire and Evans are injured, but Lindelof is on his way back, we still have options,”
