The Manchester Evening News reports that Manchester United are about to sign De Ligt and Mazraoui in a package deal. Manager Erik ten Hag’s preference for “Dutch gang” transfers has sparked dissatisfaction among the Red Devils’ fans.
It is understood that Bayern has accepted Manchester United’s £42 million bid. Manchester United verbally agreed to De Ligt’s personal terms last month, with the transfer fee to be paid over three years. Bayern’s 26-year-old right-back Mazraoui will also join for £17 million, replacing Wan-Bissaka.
Both De Ligt and Mazraoui previously worked with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag at Ajax. With these two players, the number of former Ajax players brought in by Ten Hag since he took charge of Manchester United reaches six. In total, 11 of the 21 players signed by the Dutchman for Manchester United were born in the Netherlands or played in the Eredivisie.
Manchester United fans have expressed their dissatisfaction with the club’s current transfer policy: “It seems that the current transfer policy is all about indulging Ten Hag’s “hobby” of collecting Dutch players. If Ten Hag is sacked, these players are likely to leave as well.”
