Following a 0-3 loss to Liverpool in their final game of the US tour, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag addressed the club’s transfer business this summer.
With the £52 million signing of Rasmus Hojlund ruled out for three months with a foot injury and forward Rasmus Hojlund also sidelined until mid-September with a hamstring problem, United’s transfer activity will be under further scrutiny ahead of their Premier League opener.
United have been trying to agree a deal with Bayern Munich for Dutch international Matthijs de Ligt while also looking to sign Moroccan full-back Noussair Mazraoui, a move that could pave the way for Aaron Wan-Bissaka to join West Ham.
Ten Hag says he knows football director John Murtough, technical director Jason Wilcox and new chief executive officer Omar Berrada are working with new owners Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS group to get deals done.
Ten Hag said: “Whether we will make adjustments to the squad in the next two weeks, it is always difficult to say, but we hope so. We are monitoring the transfer market. This new leadership group is very eager to do business and get deals done. They are working hard. But we have to wait and see whether the moment is right, whether the opportunity exists.”
