On August 6, Chelsea head coach Maresca spoke in an interview about the club’s continued sale of academy players like Gallagher. The Italian explained the club is forced to sell players due to Premier League rules.
Maresca said: “It’s not a Chelsea problem, it’s a rule problem. The club is forced to sell players because of the rules.”

Maresca discussed the team’s forward plan, stating that he sees Nico Jackson as a number 9.
Maresca said: “If we need him (Jackson) to play some games as a winger, then so be it…but I always believe he is a striker.”
Additionally, Maresca spoke about the team’s midfielder, Moises Caicedo: “I love Moises. I know the way he plays. He only had one training session before the Manchester City game. He played 45 minutes against Manchester City. We hope to improve his physical condition a little bit. We need him to be available for our first game.”
