August 6 – According to a report from Athletic chief reporter David Ornstein, Manchester United have started looking at other options after refusing to meet Paris Saint-Germain’s asking price for Manu Ugarte.
It is understood that United have explored a move for the midfielder but are not prepared to meet PSG’s asking price, which is around the €60m (£51.4m) they paid to sign him from Sporting Lisbon in 2023.
The two clubs are significantly apart in their valuations of the Uruguayan international and, as things stand, United are now looking at other players.
Ugarte made 37 appearances in all competitions for PSG in his first season at the club, helping them to win the Ligue 1 title, the Coupe de France and the Trophée des Champions. He started just 21 league games for PSG, although he started five of the club’s six Champions League group stage matches but did not start any of their six knockout games.
