According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United will pay Aaron Wan-Bissaka £5.6 million in compensation to offload him.
Reports suggest that Bayern Munich have accepted United’s offer to sign both Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui for a combined fee of £59m. The deals for the duo have been delayed for a while due to United’s struggles to offload Wan-Bissaka. The full-back has now agreed to move to West Ham United after securing a £5.6m compensation package from Manchester United.
Wan-Bissaka has one year left on his contract at United and earns £5.2m a year. He has been adamant that he will not leave without compensation. If Wan-Bissaka had stayed for another year before leaving on a free transfer next summer, United would have lost him for nothing. In the end, United decided to pay him a portion of the £18m transfer fee they are set to receive for him. It is worth noting that they signed Wan-Bissaka for £50m in 2019.
