West Ham United are reportedly shifting their sights towards England international Kieran Trippier after hitting a roadblock in their pursuit of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, according to the Mirror.
With Ben Johnson’s departure to Ipswich, Wan-Bissaka was one of West Ham boss David Moyes’ top targets. The price tag for Noussair Mazraoui was deemed too expensive, while their pursuit of Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters has stalled. A move for free agent Mats Hummels also fell through, while negotiations for Wan-Bissaka have been stop-start and time-consuming. The Hammers have now decided to turn their attention towards Trippier.
Trippier, who represented England at the European Championships this summer, is entering the final year of his Newcastle contract. The latest development is that West Ham have not yet received any indication from Trippier that he would be interested in joining the club. The Hammers also face competition from Saudi Arabian clubs for Trippier’s signature.
