August 9, According to reports from The Athletic’s Omar Garrick and Carl Anka, Man United centre-backs Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof are both doubts for the Community Shield against Manchester City on August 10th due to injuries.
Both Maguire and Lindelof featured in Manchester United’s pre-season tour in the United States but only played a limited number of minutes and matches, each playing two halves.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag responded to the injury situation, “Harry Maguire missed (the last game) as a precaution but it’s still a question mark whether he will be available on Saturday. We will train (tomorrow) and we have to see if he is fit enough to play.”
“Lindelof played, but he’s also a question mark, just like Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw. They are also question marks, so we have to assess them tomorrow.” Ten Hag added.
Currently, the only healthy centre-back options available to Manchester United are Lisandro Martinez, who recently returned from vacation, and veteran Jonny Evans.
Manchester United will face Manchester City at Wembley Stadium in the Community Shield on August 10th at 22:00 local time. The winner will claim the Community Shield trophy.
