According to The Telegraph, Trevor Chalobah has been barred from using Chelsea’s first-team facilities as the club negotiates his departure.
Besides training with Chelsea U21s, Chalobah has been kept separate from the first team at the club’s Cobham headquarters. This means Chalobah, who has been at Chelsea since the age of eight, has had to spend time apart from the first-team players at the academy building, until he agrees to leave the club.
Chalobah has not been seen in the first-team dressing room or lunch area since Chelsea returned from their US tour. Likewise, Broja and Lukaku are also currently training with Chelsea U21s.
Midfielder Gallagher went through a similar process and eventually agreed to move to Atletico Madrid. Chelsea believe it’s more important for those players who won’t be considered for the first team under new manager Enzo Maresca to focus on their futures than to give them a false impression of their prospects.
Villa and Crystal Palace are interested in Chalobah, who made 17 appearances for Chelsea last season and was a regular in the first team under former manager Pochettino. Chalobah rejected a move to Nottingham Forest last summer, but has been fighting to regain his place in the team after injury, as he has done several times before.
Chalobah signed a long-term contract with Chelsea in November 2022, with four years left on the deal. Chelsea are currently willing to sell him for £25m.
