According to The Times, Chelsea manager Maresca has decided to appoint Enzo as vice-captain.
Enzo was embroiled in controversy after he sang a racially insensitive song during a live stream following Argentina’s Copa America victory. Enzo later apologized publicly and is understood to have been forgiven by his Chelsea teammates. He even wore the captain’s armband in the friendly against Real Madrid.
The Times reports that Chelsea boss Maresca is highly confident in Enzo’s influence in the dressing room and has promoted him to one of the team’s vice-captains.
Chelsea’s French defender Fofana also said in an interview that Enzo has apologized and he has chosen to forgive and understand him.
