Tottenham Hotspur will face Bayern Munich in their second pre-season friendly, after losing 1-2 in the first. Ange Postecoglou addressed the press on Friday.
Udogie has yet to feature in any pre-season games, having been recovering from an injury sustained towards the end of last season. However, he returned to first-team training earlier this week, which is good news.
Postecoglou confirmed that Udogie will get some minutes against Bayern, and Cristian Romero, Lo Celso, Bentancur and Van de Ven are also in line to feature. However, Richarlison is still unavailable.
Asked about the latest on Richarlison and Udogie, the Spurs manager said: “They’re both progressing well. Udogie will get some minutes tomorrow. “Richarlison has only trained for a week, so he probably won’t get any minutes, but he’s trained well this week, so that’s the most important thing. Everyone else is fit and ready to go.”
Regarding the four internationals, Postecoglou said: “From our point of view, they’ve had a good rest. They played in some pretty big competitions, especially the South American players. It’s good to have them back because they lift the quality and intensity of our training.”
When asked about Richarlison’s future, Postecoglou underlined the club’s stance on the player: “For me, there is no uncertainty with Richarlison’s future. He has been a key part of this team, performing very well when he’s fit. The signing of new players is not to replace Richarlison, but to strengthen the overall quality of the squad. We aim to strengthen the team in every transfer window. Adding more quality and depth in the forward positions helps us protect our players from over-fatigue.”
Asked about the possibility of Solanke joining Spurs, Tottenham responded: “We are not looking to find a replacement for a legendary player like Harry Kane. After all, someone like him is irreplaceable. But we are working hard to strengthen our attack, to bring in players who fit our system and to strengthen our three-forward configuration.”
