August 25, Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson revealed in an interview with Paul Joyce from The Times that he had turned down an offer from Saudi Arabia this summer and discussed his future and Liverpool’s decision to sign Mamardashvili.
Alisson said in the interview: “I have a contract and I want to fulfil it or sign a new one. I’m very happy at Liverpool. My family is happy as well. I’ve never discussed wages or anything like that. Saudi Arabia just expressed interest. But when you hear the huge sums of money other players are being offered, you are slightly attracted, that’s normal.”
“I’m open to everything, personally, but now is not the time, it’s not the time to leave. I am focused on Liverpool, and I will be here as long as I have a contract. If the club is interested in negotiating with me, that would be a different situation.”
When asked about Liverpool starting to look for his replacement, Alisson said, “The club needs to prepare for the future. We can’t be here forever, I’m getting old! I think this (signing Mamardashvili) is a good idea, I knew about it before I saw it on social media, and that was a good sign for me because the club cared about my opinion. But I think they did the right thing.”
