The Mail on Slott: Soft Rock Style Brings Calm Aura to Liverpool, Unaffected by External Factors

On August 18th, Liverpool kicked off their Premier League campaign with a 2-0 victory over Ipswich Town. The Daily Mail reviewed Jürgen Klopp’s first game, stating that his style isn’t heavy metal, but rather brought a soft rock feel to the Reds.

The style Slott instilled in Liverpool isn’t heavy metal, but soft rock. Liverpool controlled possession for long periods, searching for a breakthrough. Slott deployed a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Szoboszlai positioned behind Jota, meaning that while Ipswich dominated the midfield, they gave Salah and Diaz significant space on the flanks.

Slott’s demeanor remained calm throughout, whether it was the broadcaster’s passionate attempt to stir up the crowd before the match or when Ipswich posed a significant threat in the first half. He stood with his hands in his pockets, his facial expression unchanged.

Salah was named Man of the Match, Arnold’s possession was impressive, but the most pleasing aspect for Klopp was undoubtedly Gravenberch. He strengthened Liverpool’s defense in midfield and looked incredibly confident.

Liverpool went undefeated in pre-season, continuing that trend in the Premier League opener. Konaté was brought on at halftime due to Kwansah’s defensive struggles against Draper, leading to a more stable defensive unit for Liverpool.
