On August 20th, according to Sam Lee, Manchester City correspondent for The Athletic, Man City have agreed a new deal with midfielder Rodri.
He wrote on social media: “Man City have agreed a new deal with Rodri! The Premier League champions want to make him one of the highest earners at the club.”
Another key member of the Man City squad, Kevin De Bruyne, is also in negotiations with the club. If the Belgian wants to stay at the Etihad, he will have to accept a pay cut, but will be compensated with a generous bonus. De Bruyne is 33 years old and his current contract with Manchester City expires next summer. Teams in Saudi Arabia and the MLS are also interested in signing the Belgian.
28-year-old Rodri played 50 games for City last season (all starts), scoring 9 goals and providing 13 assists. His current market value is €130 million.
