Walker Targets Premier League Title Defence: “It’s Ours Unless We Mess It Up”

Ahead of the new Premier League season, Manchester City defender Kyle Walker has made no secret of his desire to see his team reclaim the title. City recently made history by becoming the first club to win four consecutive Premier League titles. As the new season approaches, Pep Guardiola’s side are determined to continue their dominance and aim for a fifth straight title.

With unwavering confidence, Walker stated: “Why can’t we win five Premier League titles in a row? Why can’t Manchester City do something that is considered never to be done again?” He further emphasized, “But it needs to be driven from within, as a team. We need to push ourselves and make sure that desire to win is there every single day, for every single player.”

Having already etched their names in the history books, Walker passionately added: “I want us to remember how it felt to win the fourth one and now it’s time to go and get the fifth. It’s ours, unless we mess it up ourselves.”

It’s worth noting that Walker returned to the team slightly later than most of his teammates. Having represented England at the 2024 European Championship, Walker was granted special permission by manager Guardiola to delay his return. Speaking about his summer break, Walker shared: “I’ve been playing a lot of cricket in the last few days. I was playing cricket most of the time when I was in Wales on holiday, which was definitely my focus this summer. I’ve made decent progress in that. It’s great to get back and see the lads, I miss them even when I’m on holiday with the family. Back in training now and I’m looking to get the rust off and get myself right into the team.”

The Manchester City squad is ready to face new challenges, and Walker’s ambition will undoubtedly infuse the team with extra motivation.
