According to Japanese media reports, Japanese star Kaoru Mitoma talked about his experience playing in the Premier League during a show. He said his impression of the league has changed since he started playing there.
Mitoma said, “Before I came here, I watched it on TV and felt like it was very intense and high-level. But after actually playing in it, I found that I could do more than I expected, maybe I was overthinking it.”
He specifically pointed out that while he felt he had a physical advantage in Japan, he realized the situation is entirely different in the Premier League. The gap in speed and physicality made him realize that he is just average and that he needs to further improve himself to reach the top level.
When asked about which players he considers “amazing” among his opponents, Mitoma answered, “Kyle Walker from Manchester City is truly amazing. Palmer from Chelsea has also been very good this year.”
As for his teammates, he said, “Well… our top scorer last season, João Pedro, has been a huge contributor, scoring close to 20 goals, including penalties. Our scoring ability would have been much lower without him. He has performed exceptionally well in his first year. He’s a truly remarkable player.”
