According to British media outlet The Post, Benitez revealed in an interview that he has received 12 coaching invitations. Previously, there were mid-table and bottom-table teams in the Premier League interested in him, but he is still considering his options. Once he decides to return, it will definitely be to the Premier League.
Benitez’s most recent job was as the head coach of Celta Vigo in June 2023. However, he was sacked in March of this year and has been unemployed since.
Benitez revealed that he currently has 12 coaching offers: “Currently, there are 2 from Greece, 1 from Turkey, 1 from Hungary, 2 from Mexico, 1 from the UAE, 1 from Qatar, and 2 from Saudi Arabia. Several national teams have also invited me to coach.”
However, Benitez stated that he would prefer to return to the Premier League: “My first choice is still the Premier League. But am I still competitive in the Premier League? I don’t want to sleep on my past achievements.” Benitez revealed that although there are invitations from the Premier League, they are all from teams fighting against relegation, and he is still considering them.
Benitez acknowledged that top Premier League teams would not re-sign him: “I have experience, expertise, and passion. I love the coaching role. However, teams like Manchester United and Chelsea would definitely not come for me. It’s only the mid-table and bottom-table teams. Once they decide to change managers, I need to make a decision immediately.”
Additionally, regarding coaching a national team, Benitez hopes it would be a strong team, not one that cannot compete for trophies. Previously in the Premier League, Benitez has coached several teams, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle, and Everton.
