According to journalist Ertan Suzgun, 19-year-old Chelsea attacker Angelo Gabriel has agreed personal terms with Besiktas and is expected to complete the move before the summer window closes. He will become the latest example of Chelsea’s chaotic transfer dealings.
To sign Gabriel, Chelsea paid £13m to Santos last summer and gave the player a six-year contract. However, with no space in the first team, Chelsea immediately loaned Gabriel to Strasbourg, which is also owned by Todd Boehly.
Just a year later, Chelsea’s bloated first-team squad has not been streamlined but has actually become even larger. Considering that Gabriel is unlikely to get opportunities under Mauricio Pochettino this season, the Blues are forced to consider selling him for profit.
It is understood that Chelsea are yet to reach an agreement with Besiktas, but the two clubs are still negotiating in an attempt to reach a mutually acceptable deal.
