Former Liverpool forward Stan Collymore has said in his column that Erik ten Hag will be the manager under the most pressure in the Premier League this season, and could be facing the sack if he doesn’t deliver. He has also said that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will only last a year at Anfield.
Ten Hag was reportedly on the verge of being sacked at the end of last season, with British media naming potential replacements such as Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel and Gareth Southgate. However, Manchester United’s FA Cup win over Manchester City saved his job. And before the start of the new season, Manchester United have already spent £150 million signing new players, hoping to make a statement this season.
Stan Collymore believes that Ten Hag will be the manager under the most pressure in the new season. “He stayed at Manchester United not because he did a good job, sure Manchester United won the FA Cup, otherwise Ten Hag would have been fired. My opinion is that Manchester United must return to the top four, if they don’t make the top four, Ten Hag will find himself facing another crisis.”
Of his former club Liverpool’s new manager Jurgen Klopp, Stan Collymore said that although he wouldn’t face a sacking crisis mid-season, he would still be sacked at the end of the season. “I don’t know why Liverpool did this, they parted ways with a great manager like Klopp. However, I think Klopp will only face pressure if Liverpool drop to 14th or 15th. But even so, I still think Liverpool will sack him at the end of the season.”
