Liverpool have yet to sign any new players this summer, which has caused some fans to be unhappy. However, Reds full-back Robertson has said that the squad is already very strong, and he is excited about what lies ahead for the new season.
Speaking after the victory against Ipswich, Robertson said: “I think we’ve got an incredibly strong squad, you look at the bench today, there are still some players missing from today, we’ve got a very good squad and we showed our strength in the second half. Certain areas are always getting talked about but I think we’ve got great players in those positions, they’re all ready to fight for their place.”
“We’ve got quality in every single position, if that’s the squad we end up with, I believe we’re capable of going for whatever we want this season. Everyone wants new signings, especially the fans, they’re desperate for new signings, they want to see new faces around the place. But I believe what we have here is strong enough, and even without anyone coming in, we’re strong enough to go out there and do it this season.”
“That’s football, we’ve been in the game long enough, we know everyone wants a replacement, everyone wants somebody new coming in. People want young players to come in, maybe they’ve seen 15 minutes of good stuff or whatever, that’s how it works, that’s the business we’re in.”
