According to Romano, Swedish center-back Victor Lindelof is in no rush to leave Manchester United and would rather stay and fight for a place in the team if a suitable new club doesn’t emerge.
Manchester United have signed both Joro and De Ligt this summer. Although Joro has suffered a serious injury, Lindelof’s place in the pecking order will still be lower than last season. To make matters worse, Lindelof has recently been on crutches due to injury and is unlikely to play in the short term.
Speaking about Lindelof’s future, Romano said: “Lindelof is not in a hurry to leave Manchester United, it has to be a move to a top club.”
“He was on the shortlist of several clubs last year, including Atlético Madrid, Inter Milan and others, but Manchester United were reluctant to sell him at the time and Ten Hag also wanted to keep him in the squad. Lindelof’s contract now has only one year left, and he won’t accept anything less than a 100% satisfactory offer. After the summer transfer window closes, he can wait until the winter window to discuss a free transfer with overseas clubs.”
“So Lindelof will patiently evaluate all options and will not rush to submit a transfer request unless there is a fantastic opportunity to join another top club.”
