Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag spoke at a press conference ahead of the Premier League’s opening game against Fulham on August 17th at 3:00 am.
Ten Hag said: “De Ligt and Mazraoui will be in the squad, Maguire will be available too. Luke Shaw will be back in the short term, we don’t have to wait too long. We are, of course, looking forward to Luke Shaw’s return. He’s a very important player for our team so we hope he can come back quickly, but we can’t push him.”
“As always, we don’t feel any different about the new season, but we know what our objective is, we know where we want to go. Our expectations are always high, we want to be challenging for trophies.”
When asked about when fans can expect to see Manchester United’s new signings reach 100% fitness, he said: “We have essentially finished building our squad now, we’ve been training together for ten days, it takes time. Other teams will face similar problems. We can’t drop points at the beginning of the season, we have to work hard, make sure we’re organised in possession and out of possession. We are not at 100% yet, but we have to keep improving through every game, improve the team and the individual players.”
