DO: Man United Seriously Considering Signing De Ligt

June 29 – According to the latest report from David Ornstein of The Athletic, Manchester United are seriously considering signing defender Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich.

The 24-year-old Dutch centre-back has emerged as a concrete transfer target as United seek to bolster their defence ahead of the new season. However, no talks have started between the clubs, and it remains unclear if a deal will be struck.

De Ligt has been on United’s radar since his time at Ajax, and the club remained keen when he joined Juventus in 2019 and then Bayern three years later.

United manager Erik ten Hag is also a keen admirer of the player, having previously worked with him at Ajax, and he would be eager to reunite with De Ligt.

The Dutch international is contracted to Bayern until 2027, but a potential transfer cost would be more realistic than other targets such as Branthwaite, who Everton are reluctant to sell for less than £70 million.
