TEAMtalk journalist Rudy Galetti claims Al-Ittihad are preparing another lucrative offer for Salah. If the deal fails, another Premier League star will be their Plan B.
Salah is already the highest-earning player at the club, earning £350,000 a week, excluding bonuses. However, Salah must also realise that whatever he earns or could potentially earn on Merseyside is nothing compared to the luxury he can enjoy if he moves to Saudi Arabia.
So Liverpool know they can’t compete with that. But they can offer the chance to continue playing at the highest level, they are back in the Champions League next season after a year in the Europa League, which will undoubtedly help with negotiations, as well as continuing to make Salah the absolute heart of the team. To that end, Salah knows his value to Liverpool Football Club.
Nevertheless, Liverpool are also wary of the time constraints of the negotiations. If a new contract is not signed, the player can talk to other clubs in January, so Liverpool have set a deadline of August 1 for themselves and Salah.
It is understood that if a new deal is not reached by then, Liverpool will put Salah up for sale. However, given Al-Ittihad’s interest, it seems almost inevitable that Salah will leave Anfield.
New Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has already identified two stars as priority replacements for Salah, West Ham star Mohammed Kudus and PSV Eindhoven’s key man Johan Bakayoko.
