According to The Athletic’s renowned journalist David Ornstein, Ligue 1 giants Marseille are interested in signing Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood this summer.
Last season, the 22-year-old Greenwood was loaned to La Liga side Getafe, where he impressed. He made 36 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals and providing 6 assists. Despite Getafe’s interest in extending his loan or making the move permanent, no agreement was reached, and the player will return to Manchester United on June 30th when his loan expires.
Now, according to Ornstein, Marseille are also interested in signing Greenwood, and the two clubs have initiated preliminary talks regarding his transfer. Manchester United are reportedly keen on selling the former academy product permanently.
Reports suggest that Marseille have not yet discussed wages with Greenwood, but the negotiations are currently progressing smoothly. If the transfer materializes, Greenwood would be a significant addition to new manager De Zerbi’s squad for the upcoming season.
