On August 23rd, at the pre-match press conference for Manchester City’s match against Ipswich, Pep Guardiola first addressed the return of Ilkay Gundogan, “It was a surprise, something we didn’t expect. We know him very well, and when there was the possibility (to sign him), there was no doubt we would act on it.”
Furthermore, when asked about Rodri’s fitness, Guardiola stated, “For the game against Ipswich, I don’t think he’s ready yet, but we’ll see.”
In regard to Savinho, Guardiola said, “He feels much better himself, but I don’t think he’s fully recovered. He’s been training, and we’ll have to see how he is in the next day or two.”
