According to The Sun, Liverpool are planning a blockbuster transfer that could send shockwaves through English football. Their target? Their Merseyside rivals’ defender, Branthwaite.
The report states that Liverpool are prepared to offer a whopping £63 million plus £7 million in add-ons to convince Everton to part ways with their prized defender.
Branthwaite, who was previously linked with Manchester United, is said to be open to a move to a top club. His current contract with the Toffees expires in 2027, and he earns £60,000 a week. A move to Anfield could see him earn up to £180,000 a week.
The last time Everton directly sold a player to Liverpool was in 2002 when they sold Portuguese midfielder Abel Xavier for just £800,000.
