On August 15, 19-year-old Man City youngster Lewis gave an exclusive interview, talking about his past and football career.
Lewis first talked about his football enlightenment, which was influenced by his father: “When I was little, I often went to my father’s gym to exercise. It was at that time that I gradually fell in love with football. My father took me to a club called Little Kickers, where there were many four or five-year-old kids who played football. When I was 6 years old, I joined an amateur team called Prestwich Pythons.”
Lewis continued to say: “Besides playing football, I also practiced Muay Thai, which benefited my football skills a lot. I improved my agility and balance. When I was young, I combined football and Muay Thai training. When I was 9-10 years old, I started to focus on football training.”
Lewis talked about his early career experience: “When I first started playing football, I was smaller than everyone else, but thanks to my Muay Thai experience, I could also grit my teeth and persevere. At that time, I was often fouled by opponents, but I didn’t get discouraged. At that time, Bolton and Manchester City’s 8-year-old teams both liked me, but because I didn’t have a contract at the time, I stayed in Prestwich. When I got older, I joined Manchester City’s U11 team and successfully stayed there.”
Lewis uses Foden as an example: “Foden shares a similar belief with me. He joined the first team around the age of 17. He also gave me great motivation.”
