With the Premier League season just around the corner, clubs are facing varying degrees of injury woes. According to The Mirror, all but Fulham and Nottingham Forest have been hit by injury problems, with Manchester United, Newcastle and Brighton each having five players on the sidelines.
Manchester United, after the three-month injury to new signing Rasmus Højlund, are considered the worst affected in the league, with five players currently unavailable, alongside the likes of Luke Shaw and Højlund, who have had persistent injury issues. However, they are not alone, as Newcastle and Brighton are also suffering with five injured players each.
No Premier League giants or strong contenders have been spared. Arsenal has three injured players, including Takehiro Tomiyasu; Aston Villa are struggling with knee injuries affecting two players, including Boubacar Kamara; Chelsea have made progress but players like Reece James are expected to be out until September; Liverpool, though not seriously affected, have a back injury for Joe Gomez and a foot problem for Andrew Robertson; Manchester City has Kevin De Bruyne on the injury list; and Tottenham are dealing with a calf injury for Richarlison, which hasn’t healed fully.
Furthermore, Brentford and Everton have four players currently injured; newly promoted Ipswich Town and Leicester City have three on the sidelines; Wolves are dealing with a hamstring problem for Matheus Cunha and a long-term absence for Matheus Cunha due to a cruciate ligament injury; Crystal Palace and Southampton both have one long-term injury.
Only Fulham and Nottingham Forest are currently injury-free. The high number of injuries so close to the start of the Premier League season is attributed to players participating in the Copa América and the European Championship during the summer, leaving them with limited time to fully recover.
