On August 25th, the second round of the Premier League, Chelsea’s clash with Wolves, is about to kick off. Chelsea midfielder Moisés Caicedo discussed media pressure and the differences between the new and old coaches in a pre-match interview.
On Chelsea being in the media spotlight
Caicedo: “It’s really hard to deal with all this media attention. All you can do is adjust your mentality and focus on the 90 minutes on the field. If you can do that, I think you’ll be able to concentrate.”
On the pressure of playing for Chelsea
Caicedo: “Yes, you do feel the pressure sometimes, because Chelsea is a very good club, it’s one of the best teams in the world. But pressure can also make you grow and gain confidence, especially when you’re playing for the Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge, it feels great.”
On his role in the team
Caicedo: “As a midfielder, I have to be aware of everyone. I want to be a leader and help the team in any way I can. After all, I’m here to help Chelsea win trophies, that’s all.”
On wearing the captain’s armband in the last game
Caicedo: “It was a beautiful moment. I was happy to be Chelsea captain for the first time. The captain’s armband is a big responsibility, and I hope it won’t be the last time.”
On the team’s transfer situation
Caicedo: “If new players come in, we’ll welcome them with open arms.”
On the difference between Maresca and Pochettino
Caicedo: “The tactical system is different. The current coach always asks us to receive the ball in the right positions and keep possession firmly. When Pochettino was in charge, we were more free-flowing, we could do whatever we wanted.”
