According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are in talks with 36-year-old centre-back Jonny Evans and 38-year-old goalkeeper Tom Heaton over contract extensions, with both players’ current deals expiring at the end of this month.
Evans returned to Old Trafford last summer, initially as a backup centre-back, but became a key figure in the latter stages of the season due to a defensive injury crisis, ultimately helping the team lift the FA Cup.
Heaton’s role at Man United was also as a backup, but he was given opportunities in the Champions League and Carabao Cup. Before this year’s European Championships, Heaton was part of Gareth Southgate’s coaching staff, working with the Three Lions’ goalkeepers as both a player and a coach. Heaton is understood to have no plans to retire yet.
