On July 2, Wolves announced the loan signing of Celta Vigo player and Norway international Lars Larsen.
The announcement is as follows:
Wolves are delighted to announce the signing of Norway international striker, Jørgen Larsen, on loan from Celta Vigo, with the move becoming permanent subject to certain conditions and a contract until 2029.
The 24-year-old, who stands at 6’4”, made his senior debut for Norwegian side Sarpsborg in May 2017, before a season-long loan to AC Milan. In the summer of 2020, Larsen joined Dutch side Groningen for two seasons, where he was named the club’s Player of the Year in 2021/22. He joined La Liga side Celta Vigo in the summer of 2022, scoring 13 goals last season to be the club’s top scorer.
At international level, Larsen is a regular for Norway at youth level and made his senior debut in November 2020. He has since gone on to win 14 caps, scoring 3 goals and providing 3 assists.
Sporting Director Matt Hobbs said: “As we’ve said throughout the summer, bringing in a number nine was a big priority for us, and Lars was our number one target in that position, so we’re delighted to get him. He’s a great character, a good personality and someone who’s got great potential, he’s still learning and developing but he’s already proven he can score goals and contribute to teams. At Wolves we talk a lot about humility and he fits that completely. He’s on a really good trajectory and we want to help him continue to improve and develop to reach the levels we know he’s capable of.”
