According to The Mirror, Liverpool plan to keep hold of Mohamed Salah, refusing to let the Egyptian leave this summer.
Last summer, Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad submitted a bid for Salah, worth a whopping £150m, but it was rejected by Liverpool. Al-Ittihad are still interested in Salah this summer, but according to The Mirror, there has been no progress on a transfer.
Salah’s contract is set to expire next summer, and Liverpool are urging him to renew his deal, while absolutely refusing to let him leave this summer.
It is worth noting that Liverpool officials are unwilling to reveal the progress of the contract talks. Sporting director Julian Ward said: “I cannot publicly discuss the progress of the contract. It’s a private matter between the club and the player.”
Salah is expected to return to Liverpool this Saturday to prepare for the club’s pre-season. If he does not renew his contract, he could leave on a free transfer next summer, meaning Liverpool will not receive a transfer fee. But even so, the Reds are willing to take the risk and persuade Salah to stay, as the value of the Egyptian king is undeniable.
