July 6 In an interview with reporters, Liverpool’s new football director, Richard Hughes, said that the club’s manager Jurgen Klopp will be prioritizing a comprehensive assessment of the squad, with transfer activity likely to come later in the window.
Hughes stated, “We need to improve on the training pitch first. I think July (the transfer window for the club) will be quiet, and then August will probably see the peak. By August, there will be more time to work with the players, and the club’s opinion will be clearer.”
When asked about potential incoming players following the relative quiet start to Liverpool’s transfer window, the new Liverpool manager, Klopp said, “I don’t have a set number. Obviously, we inherit a very good team. There were some changes last year. From my perspective on football, I could see through the Euros how important it is to train with a team on a daily basis, long term. I am lucky to join a club where we haven’t lost many players. It’s much harder to make progress when you’ve lost players.”
