Brighton have officially announced the signing of Feyenoord midfielder Mats Wieffer on a deal until 2029.
Brighton’s official announcement reads:
Brighton are delighted to confirm the signing of Netherlands international Mats Wieffer from Feyenoord on a deal until 2029.
The 24-year-old defensive midfielder made his professional debut with Twente in 2018. He went on to make more than 70 appearances for the Eredivisie side before joining Feyenoord in 2022.
In two seasons with Feyenoord, Wieffer made 79 appearances, scoring nine goals and providing 11 assists. He made his international debut for the Netherlands in March 2023 against Gibraltar in a European Championship qualifier and scored his first international goal in November in a 6-0 win against Gibraltar.
