July 9, according to the Mirror, Manchester United’s most trusted assistant Ten Hag, Van der Gaag has left the team.
Manchester United have remained tight-lipped about the reasons behind Van der Gaag’s departure. The 52-year-old assistant coach was popular with the Manchester United players, not only for his professional qualities but also for his ability to speak 5 languages, including English, Spanish, and Portuguese, making him a vital part of the communication in the Manchester United dressing room.
Van der Gaag’s departure came out of the blue, perhaps Ten Hag believes his coaching team needs fresh blood, or perhaps it was a personal decision by Manchester United’s new owner Ratcliffe, the reasons behind it are still unclear.
In his two years at Manchester United, Van der Gaag has been Ten Hag’s most trusted assistant. Van der Gaag began working with Ten Hag during his coaching career at Ajax.
It is worth mentioning that Manchester United’s coaching staff has undergone significant changes for the new season, former Manchester United legend Van Nistelrooy has successfully joined the team, and Dutch coach Hake will also be Ten Hag’s assistant.
On Manchester United’s first training session of the new season, Van Nistelrooy and Hake were already at the Carrington training base, they visited the training facilities at Carrington, greeted the players warmly, and immediately got down to work.
