On July 13th, Chelsea Football Club officially announced the signing of 20-year-old Portuguese midfielder Renato Vega from Swiss side Basel, on a seven-year deal.
Born on July 29, 2003, Renato Vega stands at 190cm tall and is left-footed. He primarily operates as a defensive midfielder but can also play in multiple positions, including center-back and left-back.
Last season, Vega made 23 appearances for Basel in the Swiss Super League, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
Chelsea have confirmed that the contract with Vega is for seven years, with a one-year optional extension clause, potentially extending the deal until 2031.
Vega will immediately join Chelsea’s first team under new manager Maresca, and will be involved in pre-season training ahead of the upcoming season.
