Man Utd ‘actively looking to sell’ Lindelof, Wan-Bissaka could also depart

Manchester United are stepping up their efforts to sell Victor Lindelof this summer, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Lindelof turns 30 next week and his contract expires next year. In fact, this summer’s transfer window is the last chance for United to sell the centre-back.

A source has indicated that United are “actively” looking to sell the Swedish captain, who joined the club from Benfica in 2017. Lindelof played just 28 games last season, his lowest single-season tally at United, after two lengthy injury layoffs.

United’s other central defender, Jonny Evans, signed a one-year contract extension on Friday, but Erik ten Hag could be short on senior central defenders for Monday’s first pre-season friendly against Rosenborg. Raphael Varane has already confirmed his departure last month, while Lisandro Martinez is expected to play in the Copa América final for Argentina on Sunday. Harry Maguire has returned to pre-season training after recovering from a muscle injury and Lindelof also reported for pre-season training on Monday.

Most of United’s players who are out of contract next year have been deemed sellable or must be sold, with the club in talks with Marseille over the sale of Mason Greenwood. Aaron Wan-Bissaka could also leave. Christian Eriksen is also available for sale, with United open to hearing offers.
