In 2021, they helped orchestrate the Saudi Arabian takeover of Newcastle United for £305m, receiving a 10% stake in the club.

The BBC understands Staveley and Ghodoussi have now sold their remaining shares and will be leaving the club. Staveley and Ghodoussi helped the club avoid relegation in their first transfer window signing players such as Bruno Guimarães and Kieran Trippier.
