Manchester United has announced that “King of the Box” Ruud van Nistelrooy is returning to Old Trafford as assistant coach, signing a two-year deal.
Van Nistelrooy played for Manchester United from July 2001 to July 2006, making 219 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 150 goals and providing 30 assists. He helped Manchester United win one Premier League title, one FA Cup and one League Cup.
After retiring in 2012, Van Nistelrooy spent two years in the Netherlands national team coaching staff and returned to PSV Eindhoven to coach the youth team in the summer of 2016. In the 2022/23 season, Van Nistelrooy took over PSV’s first team, leading the team in 50 games, with a record of 34 wins, 8 draws and 8 losses. He won the Dutch Super Cup and the Dutch Cup in the season.
