According to Spanish outlet “Six TV”, Julian Alvarez rejected a new contract offer from Manchester City at the end of last season and formally requested to leave the club.
The report claims that Alvarez’s current contract with Man City is set to expire in 2028. The Sky Blues were willing to offer the Argentine forward a pay raise and extend his contract until 2029. However, Alvarez turned down Man City’s new contract and asked the management to set a “reasonable price” that potential buyers could accept.
The 24-year-old Alvarez has made 103 appearances for Manchester City so far, scoring 36 goals and providing 18 assists, helping the team win one Champions League title, one Club World Cup title, two Premier League titles, and one FA Cup title. However, due to the presence of Erling Haaland, he has only been able to play as a substitute at Man City.
