After being told he couldn’t participate in Juventus’s pre-season training camp, De Sciglio furiously hit back at the club, emphasizing “it’s a completely unilateral decision by the club.”
The entire Juventus squad flew to Nuremberg, Germany on July 20th, where new manager Thiago Motta will lead the team in their pre-season training, preparing for the new season. De Sciglio was not on the flight to Nuremberg, and Juventus’s official explanation was that De Sciglio’s physical condition was not sufficient for him to participate in the training camp. However, this explanation angered De Sciglio, and the 31-year-old defender posted on his social media to set the record straight.
In the post, De Sciglio wrote: “In the last few hours, I’ve heard some inaccurate information about me. I want to clarify that I’m feeling fine and don’t have any physical problems, even though Sky Sports and other media outlets have followed up on the reports, I want to say that my exclusion is purely a unilateral decision by the club. I implore journalists to verify the authenticity of the news before releasing incorrect information.”
De Sciglio joined Juventus in 2017 for a transfer fee of €12 million, and his contract with Juventus will expire in the summer of 2025. During Allegri’s tenure as Juventus manager, De Sciglio was a key member of the team.
