Milan close to signing Serbian international Strahinja Pavlovic

On July 21, Italian media outlet Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Serbian international Strahinja Pavlovic is getting closer to joining Milan, as he is set to hold key talks with Red Bull Salzburg.

According to reports, Milan are confident in completing the deal for Pavlovic for €18 million. Salzburg’s initial asking price was €25 million. However, the Austrian side has lowered their demands and are now willing to sell their star center-back for €20 million.

Milan and Pavlovic have already reached an agreement on personal terms. The Serbian international is eager to come to Italy and play for the Rossoneri. Portuguese manager sees the 23-year-old as an important addition to his defense.

Pavlovic, if he arrives at San Siro, will not only replace Simon Kjaer. He will become the core of the team’s defense. Because currently, none of the three Milan center-backs are left-footed, while Pavlovic is a left-footed player. Therefore, Milan manager Fonseca believes he could be the missing piece of the defensive puzzle.

Pavlovic is 23 years old, stands at 193cm tall, is strong and athletic, with excellent tackling ability and aerial prowess. Last season he made 37 appearances (37 starts) for Red Bull Salzburg, scoring 4 goals and providing 3 assists.

Furthermore, Milan are also interested in Borussia Dortmund striker Niclas Füllkrug. However, they need to overcome stiff competition from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid.
