According to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma’s attacking spearhead Paulo Dybala’s €12 million release clause in his contract has expired as of July 31st.
As no foreign club activated the release clause before August 1st, it has automatically expired and become invalid. Only teams from Saudi Arabia expressed interest in Dybala over the past few weeks. Dybala’s current contract with Roma is set to expire on June 30th, 2025. La Gazzetta dello Sport further revealed details of the contract, stating that if Dybala’s attendance rate reaches 50% next season, he will have the option to automatically extend his contract for another year.
Additionally, Roma manager Jose Mourinho is considering shifting Dybala’s position. The role of wing-playmaker will be assigned to new signing Houssem Aouar. Dybala could potentially occupy the number 10 position in a 4-2-3-1 formation, or even operate as a false nine.
