After the 2-2 pre-season draw with Brest, Juventus manager Thiago Motta explained the absence of several players from the squad.
It has been reported that Chiesa, Giallo and Kaivia were left out of the squad because they are on the transfer list, and Motta has confirmed this stance.
Motta told Sky Sport Italia: “Chiesa is not available for transfer reasons, as are the others that remain except for Fabio Miretti who is injured.”
“We have been very clear with them. They are very talented but they must find other options that allow them to have more playing time. The decision has been made for Chiesa and for the others.”
While Giallo and Kaivia could be loaned out to gain experience, Chiesa’s contract expires in June 2025, so he must be sold this summer or Juventus will risk losing him for free next year.
Juventus have therefore lowered their asking price to €20 million, but there is still no club particularly interested in signing Chiesa. Liverpool, Napoli, Manchester United, Chelsea and Newcastle United have all been linked with him but have never made a formal offer.
