Pogba: Some media outlets are spreading rumors about my suicide for traffic, don’t worry, I’m alive

Pogba took to Instagram to debunk rumors about his death, assuring fans that he is alive and well.

The incident was sparked by a misinterpretation of a video from 2023. The video was an interview with Al Jazeera in which Pogba spoke about the scrutiny faced by footballers, before he tested positive for a banned substance.

Pogba said: “Look at people like Cristiano or Messi. They always have to prove they are Ronaldo and Messi again, even though they’ve already achieved so much. Football is beautiful, but it’s also cruel. People can forget you the next day. You can do something great, but the next day you are nothing. People are waiting for you to say, ‘He’s finished, his career is over,’ many things, like I’m finished, I’m dead, Paul Pogba doesn’t exist anymore.”

The last 13 words of this quote were taken out of context and shared on social media earlier this week. Several Nigerian outlets published articles about Pogba’s “suicide,” which were later removed. As a result, many fans commented expressing their concern that he may be suicidal.

This week Pogba wrote on Instagram: “Some people are deliberately taking what I said in the past and presenting it as recent, they are all for traffic. Don’t worry, I’m fine, everyone calm down.”
