Sky Italia reports that the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has been accused of abusing its power by the antitrust authority and will have to pay over €4 million in fines.
According to the guarantor body, the FIGC abused its dominant position in the market for organizing youth competitive football matches, excluding sports promotion organizations and limiting their activities in the field of amateur football.
The FIGC will appeal to the Lazio Regional Administrative Court: “Based on demonstrably unfounded arguments and incorrect legal reasoning, the FIGC considers the sanction to be unjustified.” The FIGC reiterates “the absolute correctness of its conduct” and announces the appeal notice and requests the suspension of the proceeding.
