At 03:00 on August 21, Bodø/Glimt will host Red Star Belgrade in the first leg of the Champions League play-off. Before the match, captain Berg attended a press conference.

Bodø/Glimt captain said eight years ago when the team was relegated to Norwegian First Division: One day I will take Glimt to the Champions League

Berg said: “I’m really excited, but it’s important to play the game and not be overwhelmed by the size of the game. We have some unusual things to think about now, but we need to focus on ourselves and play the best we can.”

If Bodø/Glimt can eliminate Red Star in two rounds, they will be in the Champions League group stage for the first time in history. Glimt’s official website also posted a quote from Berg from an interview in 2016.

In the 2016 season, Glimt finished 15th in the Norwegian Premier League and were relegated to the First Division. After the relegation, Berg said: “I’ve never dreamt of playing for a big club abroad. My biggest dream has always been to play in the Champions League with Bodø/Glimt. It doesn’t matter to me which country I play in, my biggest dream is to stand on the other side of the pitch at Aspmyra Stadium on a Tuesday night with the yellow jersey on against a big team.”

The 26-year-old Berg joined the club’s youth academy at a young age. He has spent his entire professional career at Bodø/Glimt, apart from a brief half-season spell at Lens.
