Recently, Aston Villa head coach Emery made a bold statement in an interview with talkSPORT, saying he hopes to lead Villa to the Champions League semi-finals.
Last season, Villa held on to finish fourth in the Premier League, securing a Champions League spot. This is the first time Villa has participated in European competition since 1983.
Asked about his European goals for the season, Emery said: “Three years ago, I reached the European semi-finals with Villarreal, it was a fantastic experience, we enjoyed it immensely. Now, I hope to write the same story with Villa.”
“Of course, our initial goal is to reach the knockout stages. The team will enjoy the Champions League, strive to be competitive, and aim for success.”
“The draw doesn’t matter much, because we’ll be facing the best teams in European football. Some of them I’ve already encountered, and I’m looking forward to enjoying it.”
